Edge to Edge Quilting

TRQ
Rates: Welcome

My edge-to-edge quilting rates are calculated based on the density of the quilting design and the total square inch measurement of the quilt top.

Low/medium density:  $0.025 per sq in
High density:  $0.03 - $0.04 per sq in

To calculate the quilting cost, multiply the length by the width of your quilt top in inches to determine the total square inches of your quilt top.  Multiply the total square inches by the square inch fee.

Example: If your quilt top is 60" x 80", multiply 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Binding

TRQ

I provide three options for binding.  All three options include trimming and making the binding from your supplied fabric at no additional cost.

1.  I attach binding to the quilt top, you stitch to the back.  $0.12/linear inch

2.  I attach binding to the quilt back and edge stitch to the front.  You receive a completely finished quilt!  $0.22/linear inch

3.  I attach binding to top and hand stitch to the back.  You receive a completely finished quilt!  $0.32/linear inch

To calculate binding costs, add together the length of all 4 sides of the quilt in inches.  Then multiply that number by the linear inch fee of the service.

Example:  Quilt is 60 in x 80 in.  60+60+80+80=280 inches.

        Option 1:  280 x $0.12 = $33.60

        Option 2:  280 x $0.22 = $61.80

        Option 3:  280 x $0.32 = $89.60

Batting

TRQ

There are many types of batting, each has a different effect on the way your quilt looks and feels when finished.   It's important to select a high quality batting that works best for the intended use of your quilt.   Quilter's Dream is my favorite high quality batting.  I stock the Quilter's Dream battings below, and they are available for purchase when you book your quilt with me.  For more information about Quilter's Dream batting, click here.  I would be happy to special order Quilter's Dream wool, bamboo or other types of Quilter's Dream batting if preferred.

100% natural cotton, mid loft  -  $0.44/inch

80%/20% white cotton/poly blend, mid loft - $0.42/inch

100% white poly, mid loft - $0.30/inch

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.

65" of 100% natural cotton, mid loft @ $0.44/in = $28.60
65" of 80%/20% white cotton/poly, mid loft @ $0.42/in = $27.30
65" of 100% white poly, mid loft @ $0.30/in = $19.50

Thread

TRQ

I stock a variety of polyester thread in various weights and colors.  Your quilt and your preferences will determine which thread will be the best choice.  I typically tend to use more neutral colors in a lighter weight thread so that the quilting texture and color enhances the piecing, but if you have a specific type and color of thread in mind, we can definitely make that work.  There is no extra charge for thread.  It is included in the square price.

Photography

TRQ

I'm not a professional photographer, but I do love to take photos of quilts!   I'm happy to email or text photos of the progress of your quilt.  I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Other Costs

TRQ

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Idaho to collect sales tax on the batting portion of an invoice. Quilting, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax if outside the state of Idaho.

Shipping

TRQ

Shipping your top and backing to me:

I live in Hayden, Idaho and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in a clean plastic bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping:

I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.

Payment

TRQ

After your quilt is completed, you will receive an invoice by email from Wave with a link to submit payment.  I also accept payment by cash or check.   I really do appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
