MEASURE - It is important that your backing is square and is at least 8 inches longer and wider that your quilt top. This means that for a quilt top measuring 60 inches x 80 inches, the backing would need to measure 68 inches x 88 inches.

CLIP - Clip and remove any loose threads on the back of your quilt top.  Stray threads that are not removed can get trapped between the layers and may show through on the quilt top.

PRESS - Give your quilt top and backing a good press, ensuring that all seams are pressed open or to one side.   This produces the best results by reducing bulk which can cause lumps or bumps on your finished quilt.

MARK - Use a piece of painter's tape to mark the top of your quilt top and backing.  This helps me know which direction to load your quilt top according to the design we're using, which may be directional.

PACK - If you're mailing your quilt top and backing, it's a good idea to place them in a plastic bag to protect against moisture.  Then place in a cardboard box for shipping.
